Project Overview

Ana Masry is a project that aims to promote Egyptian unity, values of tolerance, a respect for diversity, peaceful coexistence and social cohesion and responsibility among youth and children in Egypt; and we use art to convey this message.

The problem this project aims to solve is the discrimination and hatred which dramatically increased in the Egyptian society between the different categories of society either on the religious or social levels. The underlying tension that presents itself in different forms of violence and poor social responsibility threaten our national unity and deeply rooted values of respecting and accepting the other, the different, no matter how different s/he is.

Steering away from the typical and ineffective means of dealing with the problem of intolerance through ceremonies, official speeches and lecturing, this project is unique in two aspects:

1. It is reaching out to the younger generations and the masses. This program targets children aged 7-22.

2. It uses a more creative way to reach youth by employing arts and culture. Why arts? It's a lively means to convey messages – especially to children – since it provides a dynamic environment that encourages them to interactively adopt the ideas.
