Loay El-Shawarby – Chairman of the Board

Of-Counsel with Zaki Hashem & Partners, in charge of the firm’s evolving practices on international trade and competition laws. In this capacity, Mr. El-Shawarby rendered legal advice to the President of the Egyptian Parliament and the Center for Parliamentary Studies on international trade issues and, through various consulting assignments, to the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Finance; as well as advising private sector clients. Less frequently, Mr. El-Shawarby participates in general corporate and capital markets assignments.

Mr. El-Shawarby also serves as adjunct lecturer of law and politics at `Ain Shams and Al-Azhar Universities. In 2004-2005, Mr. El-Shawarby was as a visiting fellow with the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. His research interests at CSIS focused on WTO accession and post compliance issues for Middle Eastern countries, as well as U.S. FTAs in the region.

Mr. El-Shawarby’s earlier legal career (2000-2004) included advising on investment issues in the Middle East, contracts, and international commercial arbitration. At same period, Mr. El-Shawarby was lecturer of laws at Suez Canal University – Faculty of Commerce and `Ain Shams University – (International Commercial Arbitration center), teaching business law and international commercial arbitration.

Between 1995 and 2000, Mr. El-Shawarby was deeply involved in El-Shawarby Trading Company, which is a full-fledged trading house involved in the import and distribution business, specifically in beverages. Mr. El-Shawarby still maintains ties to the business community through serving on advisory boards and/or boards of directors. Currently he sits on the board of directors of Maritime Solutions - Singapore; Nebras Technolgies, B2LS Consulting, and El-Shawarby Trading Company – Cairo, Egypt.

Education: LL.M. in International Legal Studies with a concentration in International Trade Law, Georgetown University (2004), where he was elected president of the foreign lawyers’ class (roughly 200 students); Graduate Diploma in Islamic Studies with a focus on Islamic Law and Jurisprudence, the American University in Cairo (2000); LL.B., Cairo University (2000); and a B.A. in Political Science and European World History, the American University in Cairo (1994).

Community and leadership involvement: Mr. El-Shawarby is a founding member and currently chairperson of the Nahdet El-Mahrousa (“NM”) NGO; team leader, NM Young Innovators Award (“YIA”) incubated project; member, Legal Affiars Committee, Egyptian Junior Businessmen Association; trustee, Egyptian Institute of Directors; alumnus, Georgetown Leadership Seminar (“GLS”); alumnus, AIESEC Egypt.

Mohamed Aly – Vice Chair

Mohamed Aly A.Fattah, PhD, MBA, CCT (Certified Corporate Trainer) has 15 years of corporate experience in the fields of Strategic Planning & Time Management, Leadership & Organizational Development, and Online Marketing. He is an active member in the American Organizational Development Network, the British Trainers-Base Association, & Egyptian Management Consultants Association. Mohamed has graduated as an Engineer from the American University in Cairo, and then got his MBA in Integrated Strategic Planning, and finally PhD in Organizational Development & Change Management from UK.

Mohamed was one of the early birds of Internet in Egypt as he was managing the marketing & development of the widely known Microsoft Network (MSN) in the Region. He has also headed the Portals Development Committee of LinkdotNet. In addition, he was the General Manager of LEAD Projects, the Management Consultant of the British Spot Local, and the Org. Dev. Consultant of SOLVAY, BRISK, & ProSoft Info. Systems. He has given many successful lectures & corporate trainings in the fields of Strategic Planning, Org Development, Time Management, Leadership, & Training Trainers, in Egypt, the Arab Gulf, & UK (5000+ trainees). He has also been the Management & Development Consultant and Board Member for SETTEC Training & Development for the past 3 years.

Mohamed is currently an Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management & a Development Consultant in the School of Business, at the American University in Cairo. He is also the Senior Consultant of UBS, the Vice-Chairman of Nahdet El Mahrousa, and an online-writer in the fields of Personal & Community Development. 

Tamer Moheb, Treasuer

Financial & Business Analysis Manager
Tamer has been working at E-Finance Egypt since February 2009. Over this short period of time Tamer has tremendously contributed to the company. He developed a cost centre structure for the company, established and implemented an in-year budgeting & planning and long term planning process, established a performance management system, and developed an Investment Appraisal model.

Before joining E-Finance, Tamer worked as a Commercial Analyst at British Petroleum (BP) from December 2005 to January 2009, where he made a successful career move into investment analysis.

Prior to his work as a Commercial Analyst, Tamer occupied the position of MEEEA Business Analyst at NCR Corporation (Information Technology and Services Industry), where he acted as a liaison between logistics operations and controllers organizations. Tamer also proposed changes and amendments to corporate policies, proposed and evaluated new opportunities for investment and cost saving, and finally, he audited MEEEA controllers to ensure compliance with corporate policies & global practices.
Tamer earned his MBA in Finance from The American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2008 and had graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the Faculty of Commerce (English Section) at Cairo University in 1998. 

Beetohoven Tayel, General Secretary

Beethoven Tayel is the founder and managing director at B2LS Consulting, a young entrepreneurial effort that is dedicated to improving the “lot” of the Egyptian business sector, more so of private businesses, in applying their visions and wishes to go international. Beethoven has advised and coached a variety of SME’s across automotive industries, food industries, white goods industries, and several service sectors.

His clients include: Hero, Kraft, Cadbury, Mercedes, Toshiba El‐Araby, Orascom Technology, Cilantro as well as a number of other well known companies. Particular experience with managing large complex projects with multinational interdisciplinary teams. Experience in working with, and leading diverse and global teams of senior clients and consultants.

Beethoven has conducted several projects for a wide range of corporations and brings to a strong experience in process optimization, strategic transformations, and organization turnaround programs.

Prior to joining B2LS Consulting, Beethoven has worked many years for the conglomerate Orascom Group, were he acted as owner’s representative for the mega projects department and then became the Assistant to Vice Chairman. Beethoven has also conducted short term assignments with Krupp Stahlbau Hannover (Germany), other multinational corporations such as B6 (Belgium), and Dan Steel (Denmark).

Beethoven earned his MBA from the University of California San Diego. He also holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo (AUC).

Beethoven’s professional and social relevant experiences include:

 • Coaching several NGO’s turnaround efforts from assessment phase until completing implementation a full change management program and achieving the desired KPIs.
 • Head of O‐Team at the University of San Diego mentoring and guiding new international students
 • President of the Student Union at AUC. Active member with different clubs including: AISEC, Mechanical Engineering Club, FLAME and Anti‐Drug‐Team
 • Facilitating training for a group of entrepreneurs by defining the value proposition, building the business model, and creating the detailed business plan. Identifying SME’s and Entrepreneurship standards, best practices and Implementing world‐class benchmarks

Ahmed Dorghamy – Board Member

Senior Business Developer, Carbon Trading and Renewable Energy.

Ahmed El-Dorghamy graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and completed his MSc there in Energy Technology and another MSc in Environment driven by his passion and ambitions for environmental development in Egypt. In the past four years since his return he worked in environmental consultancy and later joined the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project for the capacity building of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) for three years, and then joined the JICA study team for the Greater Cairo Metro Line No.4 project planned for 2017. He has been active in many volunteer activities promoting environmental education and awareness, such as carrying out the Energy and Environment program of El-Sawy Culture wheel of summer 2008, and carrying out workshops and presentations elsewhere such as in Biblioteca Alexandrina and Cairo University, and others. Today Ahmed EL-Dorghamy works Tri-Ocean Energy in the fields of renewable energy and environmental projects of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as a senior business developer. His ambition for NM is to establish an organ dedicated to environmental activities; a green arm. He already started with solid steps in the respect through the first activity of the green arm of NM by starting the Green Series of Salon El-Mahrousa, of which 4 sessions were already completed.

Ayman Ismail – Board Member

Ayman Ismail, PhD, is a Co-Founder and Managing Director in Enovio, a management consulting firm operating in the US and the Middle East. Prior to that, Ayman was a senior consultant in McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, based in New York for several years. He has advised clients in leading Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, and non-profits, serving senior management on key organization, operations and technology issues. Ayman has also consulted and conducted research for international organizations such as the World Bank and UNCTAD, as well as multiple US government agencies. He is also a Research Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government in Harvard University, where he conducts research on financial and economic development in Egypt and the MENA region.

Ayman received his PhD in International Economic Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research focuses on the developmental impact of access-to-finance on firms and the role of alternative forms of finance such as private equity and venture capital in emerging economies, focusing on Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa region. Ayman holds a bachelor degree in engineering and an MBA from the American University in Cairo, and a master in city planning and geographic information systems from MIT.

Ayman Ismail is a Co-Founder and member the Board of Directors of Nahdet-El-Mahrousa. He also led “Mentoring for Leadership,” an innovative program aiming at developing young Egyptian talent through creating mentorship and personal development opportunities. In 2004-2005 Ayman was the Planning Manager for the Egyptian American Community Foundation, a US-based non-profit foundation. In 1995-96, Ayman was Vice President of AIESEC in Egypt.

Ehaab Abdou, Board Member, co-founder and Ashoka fellow

Ehaab Dyaa Abdou is co-founder of Nahdet El Mahrousa. He is also co-founder and Board member of the Egyptian Federation of Youth NGOs. In 2004, Ehaab was selected as a "social entrepreneur” by the global Ashoka Foundation and hence became an Ashoka fellow. In 1999, Ehaab helped establish, and became the first president of, Fat’het Kheir, an Egyptian youth-led voluntary organization offering an innovative model in community development. In 1995, as an AUC student, he was elected as the president of AIESEC in Egypt.  In August 2007, he was honored by AIESEC, by awarding him the "Global AIESEC Alumni Entrepreneurship and Leadership Award".

As a singer-songwriter, in 2007, he co-founded the Egyptian band “Ana Masry” promoting a strong message of tolerance, diversity and national unity through a unique fusion of Muslim Sufi chanting, Christian hymns as well as his own lyrics and music, among others. In Oct 2009, he launched his first album “Gowayya Hagat” co-produced by his independent music production company and Cilantro café.

Ehaab currently works as an Advisor to the Middle East Youth Initiative at the Wolfensohn Center for Development at the Brookings Institute leading its social entrepreneurship program for the Arab region. Fall 2006, he was co-teaching an undergraduate course on NGO Management under the Management department of the American University in Cairo. Between 1997 and 2002, he worked as the Partnership and Business Development officer at Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC), the Near East Foundation (NEF) Middle East and North Africa regional offices and the Nestle food company in Egypt.

In 2004, Ehaab earned his master’s degree in international development from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His master’s focused on NGOs and the Civil Society including research on the role of local philanthropy, fair trade, and the role of NGOs in development. In 2004 Ehaab received his undergraduate degree in management from the American University in Cairo in 1997.

Ihab Ismail – Board Member

Ihab Ismail is Co-Founder and Managing Director at Enovio Consulting.  He has advised clients in utility, energy, construction, healthcare, automotive and information technology industries on issues of strategic alignment, capability building, execution planning and excellence, program and project management, and business start-ups. Ihab provides a unique interdisciplinary education and experience that is instrumental in structuring and coordinating highly specialized consulting groups with diverse knowledge base.

Before he co-founded Enovio, Ihab was the Manager of Engineering and Risk Manager for Turner Construction Company in Michigan for several years, where he received the Turner Award for service excellence. Earlier, he was a legal consultant for Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone in the USA. He was also a consultant in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.

Ihab is also an Executive Board Member of the Construction Innovation Forum, where has been a reviewer and investigator for the prestigious NOVA award for innovation sciences for the past seven years. He is founder of the Arab Student Association at the University of Michigan.

Ihab has a PhD (ABD) in Organizational Strategy and Capability Building from the University of Michigan. He also earned a Master’s degree in Construction Management (with Highest Honors) from the University of Michigan, where he was awarded the Tishman Honorary Scholarship.  He also has non-degree graduate education in business and law from the University of Michigan and a BS in construction engineering (with honors) from the American University in Cairo.

Sherif Ismail – Board Member

Sherif Ismail is Business Development Manager in Cisco’s Emerging Markets Group. He is responsible for developing sales and business in the Africa/Levant region in the area of collaboration. Collaboration includes: Unified Communications is suite of Internet Protocol (IP) voice, data and video products and applications, including business video and contact center solutions designed to help organizations of all sizes streamline business processes and work more efficiently.

Sherif is a highly regarded as a proven sales professional and an evangelist for Cisco in new and existing markets. He has a passion for technology and innovation, as well as a demonstrated business savvy that has been instrumental when developing sales of new and existing Cisco products and solutions. 

During his career at Cisco, Sherif has led in the sales of: Cisco’s Unified Communications and Contact Center products in mature markets such as the United States as well as areas of Emerging Markets, specifically Middle East & Africa.

Sherif received his undergraduate B.S. degree in Business Administration from Montclair State University in New Jersey.  In addition, holds a Masters of Science in Telecommunications Management from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jesrey.
