Inspiration  

Finding a good job isn’t easy, and finding the right job is, of course, everyone’s dream. For an employer, finding the right employee is equally difficult.

When?

Project idea was born in 2004, incubated by NM in 2005 and then the office established in 2006.

What?

To complement the education process at Faculty of Engineering Cairo University and to bridge the gap between education and employment, the Career Development Office (CDO) aims at equipping students with “key essential skills” necessary to compete in today
's
job market.

Primary beneficiaries: Students & Graduates

 - Cairo University’s Faculty of Engineering students and young graduates

Secondary beneficiaries: Corporate Sector

 - Companies finding better qualified caliber of employees as well as Egyptian labor market and economy at large.

Impact as of February 2007   

 - Renovated and furnished 200 sq. m space to serve as the office premises at Cairo University’s Faculty of Engineering.

 - Online career portal is finished; to be hosted at www.cdo-cu.org soon.

- Organized 2 training fairs for the students, with the following results:

  - Total of 25 courses/workshops were offered to the students.

  - Approximately 2500 students registered for the different courses/workshops.

  - Approximately 600 students attended the different courses/workshops.

  - Facilitated other lectures, courses, awards and funds by NM YIA, British Council, and Social Fund for Development for approximately a total of 200 students.
