Hadil Ghoneim - Secretary General
Graduated from Cairo University, Faculty of Economics and Political Science in 1997, Hadil Ghoniem worked as editorial coordinater then assistant editor of Al Kotob Weghat Nazar book review magazine until 2004 after which she studied for her Masters degree in "Culture and Society" at the London School of Economics. She is currently working as senior editor in Dar El Shorouk Publishing House, and has a number of published articles, reviews and children's books.
Hadil was elected to the first NM BOD member in (2003) and took the position of Secretary General. She joined in various NM teams and activities, but mainly TAM , Youthbook and Egyptianity. Hadil has special interest and experience in interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
Miranda Beshara - Treasurer
Miranda Beshara has several years of professional experience and applied academic training in the field of economic and social development with an extensive experience in managing and implementing civil society and community development programs in the Middle East and North Africa, West Africa, and the Balkans. She started working in Egypt in the early 1990s as a volunteer and social worker with Caritas and then as projects officer with Community and Institutional Development (CID). She worked in the United States with CARE, InterAction, the World Bank, and Americas Development Foundation (ADF).
In Egypt, she held several posts such as the Deputy Director of the Office of Civil Society Strengthening and Promotion with the USAID-funded NGO Service Center; Training and Membership Development Manager with Sanabel, Microfinance Network of Arab Countries; and is currently Advisor for the Networking of Womens Rights Organizations Project with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).
Experienced in project and program design, and management and development of training materials and tools for capacity building in a range of competency areas such as NGO management, advocacy, community empowerment and participation in development, and internal governance. She has extensive experience in working with a range of organizations on developing new programs, creating networks, and providing support to ongoing activities.
Miranda graduated with a B.A. in Economics from AUC in 1997 and received her M.A. in Economic and Social Development in 2000 from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. She has numerous publications and studies related to the field of development.
Samer Atallah - Chairman
Samer was the first chairman of the board of directors since Nahdet El Mahrousa was established and until August 2004. He worked on several projects in the NGO such as Egyptianity project. He worked with the first BOD in establishing the vision, mission and strategic plan for the NGO.
Samer received his bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, from the American University in Cairo in 1997. He also holds a Masters of Science in Engineering, University of California at Berkeley (2002), and a Masters of Arts in Economics, McGill University (2006). He is currently a PhD Candidate in the Economics Department at McGill University.
Samer work experience is in the field of sustainable development. He worked as Environmental Engineer for Nestle Egypt, Uribe & Associates (Oakland, California) and CIDA’s Egypt Environmental Initiative Fund. He is also an amateur photographer and participated in several photography exhibits in Cairo.
