Noha Sallam – Chairperson of the Board

Noha was among the founding members of NM and is a member of two of NM’s incubated projects: mentoring for leadership & Young Innovators’ Awards projects. Noha also serves as the treasurer of Fathet Khier NGO, an Egyptian youth-led voluntary organization that was established in 1999 and offers an innovative model in community development. Noha's undergraduate degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering was received from the faculty of Engineering, Cairo University in 1997. Since October 2004, Noha has been leading the complaints department in the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Egypt. Before this, she had a 5 years working experience at Lucent Technologies Incorporation, Egypt Branch. Recently Noha was appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Social Contract Advisory, Monitoring and Coordination Center (SCAMCC), that was established in May 2007 to follow up the implementation of the vision of Egypt's Human Development Report (EHDR) 2005. The SCAMCC has been launched under the auspices of His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif.
Loay El-Shawarby – Vice Chair of the Board

Loay is a legal consultant specializing in international trade law and general corporate matters. Most recently, Loay received his LL.M from the Georgetown University Law Center, followed by a fellowship at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC. He served as president of Foreign Lawyers at Georgetown (FLAG.) He was an adjunct lecturer of laws at Suez Canal University in Isma`iliya, Egypt (2001-2003) and practiced with Sharaf law firm. He is founder and owner (1996 – present) of El-Shawarby Trading Company, an Egyptian import and distribution outfit in the beverages sector. Currently Loay is an attorney in Zaki Hashem’s Law firm. Loay is a founding member of the NM and the head of its project on stimulating the culture of R&D in the sciences in Egypt (Young Innovators’ Awards). Loay holds degrees in political science, European history, and Islamic studies from the American University in Cairo and a LL.B. from Cairo University.
Nesrine Khaled – Secretary General & External Communications Focal Point

Nesrine is a Business Mass Communications graduate of the American University in Cairo in 2000. Nesrine worked as a communication officer in Care International till the year 2003. In 2003 Nesrine was awarded the British Chevening Scholar to pursue her Masters degree from the University of Leicester in the UK. Nesrine received her Masters degree in 2004 with distinction. Nesrine worked in a non for profit organization for children in the UK till 2005. In 2005, Nesrine held the position of assistant manager communication officer in the UNICEF. In 2007, Nesrine joined the Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC) as a communication officer. Nesrine joined Nahdet El Mahrousa in 2004 and is currently the external communication coordinator at NM. She is also a member of the Young Innovators’ Awards program. Nesrine’s hobby is photography.
Ahmed Zahran - Treasurer

Ahmed is a Business Finance graduate of the American University in Cairo in 2002. After obtaining his bachelor he worked in Tunisia as a Financial Planning analyst of the Shell Gas activities for 2 years. He is currently working with Shell International in the UK as a Finance Advisor for the European Emissions Trading Scheme as part of the preparation for the implementation of the UN Kyoto Protocol in 2008. Ahmed is a member of the Egyptian British Cultural Forum in London which carries various political, social and economic discussions on a weekly basis, and is currently working as a facilitator of an online group of students from the Arab world and the USA as part of the efforts of the Soliya NGO to enhance cultural understanding between the US and the Arab World. Recently, he was accepted as a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chattham House). He is a freelance writer as well with his articles appearing in some Egyptian magazines. Ahmed is focal point for NM in the UK.
Ehaab Abdou – Managing Director and Board Member

Ehaab Abdou is the co-founder of Nahdet-El-Mahrousa. In 1999, he helped establish Fat’het Kheir; a leading Egyptian micro-finance NGO, and became its first President. In 1995-96, he was President of AIESEC Egypt. Recently he was selected as an Ashoka fellow, which allowed him to dedicate his full-time efforts to Nahdet-El-Mahrousa. Ehaab has a working experience of 5 years in Nestle, the Near East Foundation and Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC). Ehaab earned his Masters degree in International Development from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He has a BA in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo. Ehaab’s main hobby is Arabic singing. He also serves as the President of the Federation of Egyptian Youth NGOs.
May Kamel – Board Member & Human Resources Focal Point

May is a Business Finance graduate of the American University in Cairo in 1998 with highest honors. After obtaining her bachelor, May worked as a credit analyst in the Commercial International Bank (CIB) till the year 2000. She was then promoted to assistant investment banking manager till the year 2003. In 2003, May has completely changed her career path where she chose the Human Resources Management & Development as her new career and studies path. May worked as the international students’ coordinator in the American University in Cairo. At the same time May was awarded the British Chevening scholar to pursue her Masters degree in Human Resources Management & Development from the University of Manchester UK which she earned in December 2005. Currently May is a senior HR supervisor in Etisalat Egypt May is a founding member of NM. May is a member of the Mentoring project, one of NM’s projects directed to serving Egyptian Youth. May is also the HR consultant of NM. She has established the organization’s HR system and is closely following up on HR’s activities including recruitment, performance appraisal, capacity building and training. May is also an active member of Fathet Kheir organization in Mokattam. She was also an active member of AIESEC organization as she was the vice president for partnerships and funding within the organization. She was an active member in the organizing committee of the International Trainers Conference held in Egypt in 1997.
Ayman Ismail - Board Member & IT Focal Point

Ayman Ismail leads “Mentoring for Leadership,” an innovative program aiming at developing young Egyptian talent through creating mentorship and personal development opportunities. Ayman is also the Planning Manager for the Egyptian American Community Foundation, a US-based non-profit foundation. In 1995-96, Ayman was Vice President of AIESEC Egypt. Ayman Ismail is currently a Ph.D. candidate in International Economic Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prior to that, he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in New York for 5 years and a consultant with the World Bank in Cairo and Washington, DC. Ayman holds a Masters of City Planning and Information Systems from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds an MBA and a B.Sc. in Engineering from the American University in Cairo. Ayman is focal point for NM in the US.
