The Social Contract approach
Students will be involved in researching and discussing critical questions such as:

Why do we need a social contract?

What is a principle centered public?
-
What are the civic values that we should promote?
-
What are a strong community and active public?
-
What are the principles that embody the common interests that bind us?
-
What values and principles do we all Egyptians agree on?
-
Who are the stake holders and what are their roles?
-
How do we monitor and hold each stake holder accountable?
The participants will start public spheres in their small communities where they:
-
Identify a common interest
-
Identify the stake holders
-
Help stake holders to form an opinion about their common interest
-
Write it in a social contract
-
Put their contract into action
Implementation activities:
-
Receive training on social research, surveys, focus groups and reporting
-
Participate as interns with other organizations writing reports and social research
-
Collaborate together in writing their own report on the state of Egyptians

Presenting it in a simple and creative way
- Multimedia version of the report (future plan)
