Project Goals:
The primary goal of the project is to reverse the brain drain which has been occurring for many years in Egypt, this is done through the mobilization of the Egyptian young professional Diaspora to effectively contribute to Egypt’s development, primarily in the investment, technology and trade areas. This can be achieved by matching the qualifications, expertise and knowledge of Egyptian expatriates with the needs for Egypt development.
(1) Contributing to Policy Reform
EED will work on attracting high calibre Egyptian expatriates to act as advisors to policy makers on issues related to making Egypt more investor-friendly to ensure that Egypt is the country of choice for Foreign Direct Investment and doing business (i.e. advisors to the Capital Market Authority, General Authority for Investment, Commercial Representation Offices). It is indeed important to stress that the EED program aims at establish a relevant reward system which would ensure that the recruited policy advisors are motivated to perform their tasks and thus ensure the “sustainability” of this contribution to policy reform. [We could have Beethoven contribute on Key Performance Indicators.. he is the expert with KPIs]
(2) Attracting Investment to Egypt
Relay business and investment opportunities to potential business people abroad. This entails an active government outreach to the Egyptian investors abroad through regular/annual conferences and campaigns in London, Dubai, & New York which will focus on business and investment opportunities in Egypt. EED will serve as the incubator that will design and facilitate the annual outreach plans for this component.
NM EED group will encourage Egyptian Financial experts and the organizations they are affiliated to to meet with key decision makers in government who will able to steer investment opportunities and potentials in Egypt.
(3) Recruitment Services
The Expatriate database will make it very natural for the EED program to act as a middleman between the different government agencies (represented by the MOI) and the expanding pool of Egyptian expatriates to satisfy their recruitment goals. The EED would publicise the available vacancies among its database and secure “relevant” CVs for the different posts. The EED will help the government with establishing the different compensation packages as per the expatriate requirements and the available market rates.
