One-Stop-Shop Program in El Maadi El Gadeeda

Sekem Foundation has now been successfully running the One-Stop-Shop project at the Maadi El Gedeeda youth centre since January 2008. The team has completed the renovation of the sewing workshop for women at the youth centre, and all needed equipments and materials have been purchased.

Alashanek Ya Balady for Sustainable Development (AYB-SD)

AYB-SD’s team has been working actively and effectively at the Ain El Sira youth centre. In the Economic Empowerment Field they introduced a new computer course (Excel, Word, Power point, Internet and IT) for 31 beneficiaries. They also started a new soft skills training, under the name “Success Skills.” Additionally, 25 participants have taken the English language placement exam in order to be able to join the English language courses offered by AYB-SD at the youth centre. Moreover, Shell has also agreed to offer its courses at the youth centre in collaboration with AYB-SD for 26 beneficiaries.

Business Enterprise Support Tools (BEST)

The youth centres in bothMinia and Fayoum are functioning very effectively and the One-Stop-Shop program is flourishing due to the great efforts performed by BEST’s team in both cities. The human development seminars offered at the youth centres have now reached their 5th round with high levels of attendance. Furthermore, BEST has arranged for various other seminars, on voluntarism, self development, health, nutrition, and disease prevention, which also had high levels of attendance.

Key Career Development Center (CDC)

After a brief rest for the Key-CDC program due the exams at Ain Shams University, the program resumed its vibrant activities on June 21st 2008. The team is continuously putting its efforts in selecting as many CVs as possible to provide them to the private sector companies, and in fact Key-CDC has managed to secure 32 summer internships during the month of June.

Career Development Office (CDO)

The CDO continues to work efficiently at Cairo University offering the students various trainings and activities. The “Let’s Talk, Let’s Think” Career Counselling sessions are being updated and worked upon to fit the form and structure of the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
