YIA Sponsorships

Dare to Dream

Dreams Can Come True is a statement we constantly hear but don’t believe in. Do you have a dream? Do you have hope? Do you have faith? Do you believe? Well, you must have heard of the Young Innovators’ Awards (YIA).

The YIA program, incubated in Nahdet El Mahrousa, holds an annual competition for engineering students to give them a chance to innovate and create the graduation project of their dreams. As of this year, the third year of the project, the YIA is already serving the mechanical, telecommunications, and chemical engineering departments at the faculties of engineering of six national universities: Cairo, Ain-Shams, Alexandria, El Mansura, El Menya and Al Azhar Universities. Student teams have to complete an entry form endorsed by their academic advisor, and a proposal detailing their project plan and budget projections. NM, for its turn, constitutes a committee for evaluating the project proposals submitted and selecting the winning teams. Winners are offered an Award of EGP 4000.

This year, the YIA enjoyed an astonishing success. Twenty eight groups of graduating students received Awards (EGP 4000 each), serving a pool of 135 engineering students. Yet the immense news is the addition of Mobinil and Challenger Limited to the ever-growing list of sponsors that already includes BG Egypt, Proctor & Gamble (P&G), and Adcom/Ericsson (Mr. Tarek Malash).

Mobinil “Communicate from the Heart” is a leading Mobile service operator in Egypt, serving close to ten million customers and proudly contributing to the development of the community. On the other hand, Challenger Limited is an international provider of contract oil & gas land drilling & work over services, servicing both major and independent oil & gas companies. It is one of the leading providers of drilling & work over services on the African continent, and is currently expanding its market presence to include other areas in the Middle East region.

I hope you can take inspiration from this story and realize that dreams of development in Egypt can become a reality -- only if you choose to strive for it.
